Nellore and Ongole Pay Tribute to the First Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister’s Legacy
In a series of activities conducted around the state to mark the 153rd anniversary of Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu’s birth, the first Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh received sincere tributes. The day was marked by a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation for Tanguturi’s important contributions to the state and his enduring legacy in the freedom movement.
Statewide Tributes to Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, Andhra Pradesh’s First Chief Minister
Leading the tributes at Ongole were Minister for Social Welfare Dola Sri Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, Ongole Municipal Corporation Mayor Gangada Sujatha, Ongole MP Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy, MLA Damacharla Janardhan Rao, and Prakasam District Collector A. Thameem Ansaria. The leaders highlighted Tanguturi’s dedication to the country, pointing out that he gave his all for national duty and played a significant role in important independence struggles including the “Salt Satyagraha,” “Go Back Simon Commission,” and “Quit India Movement.” Minister Swamy also went to the Collectorate to see a picture exhibition featuring Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu’s life and times.
Celebrations in Nellore
District Collector O. Anand of Nellore, meantime, dedicated Tanguturi’s image in Nuvvurupadu town in Atmakuru mandal. In order to honor the memories of the visionary leader, Kannama Naidu, CEO of Zilla Parishad, in-charge RDO Prem Kumar, and village sarpanch Dorasanamma all attended the occasion. The enthusiasm with which the festivities were conducted in Nellore showed the general respect that people have for Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu’s achievements to the state and nation.
Remembering Prakasam Pantulu Tanguturi
Recognized as “Andhra Kesari,” Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu was a dedicated leader who made major contributions to the development of Andhra Pradesh and a pillar of the Indian independence struggle. His life and contributions have inspired generations, so it is fitting that we celebrate his birth anniversary as a time to give thanks and give thought.
