ISRO's SSLV-D3 Launches EOS-08 & SR-0 Successfully

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) successfully launched the Earth Observation Satellite-08 (EOS-08) this morning from Sriharikota on its Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV-D3), marking a significant milestone for India’s space goals. This mission’s achievement represents a critical turning point in ISRO’s efforts to improve its tiny satellite capabilities.

Mission Details

  • Launch Vehicle: Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV-D3)
  • Satellite: Earth Observation Satellite-08 (EOS-08), weighing 175.5 kg
  • Additional Payload: SR-0, a small satellite developed by Chennai-based start-up Space Rickshaw
  • Launch Time: 9:17 a.m.
  • Rocket Specifications: 34 meters tall, 119 tons, cost approximately Rs 56 crore

SSLV-D3: A Positive Advance

An expendable rocket, the SSLV-D3, was created by ISRO in response to the increased market demand for smaller satellites. The SSLV, which can carry up to 500 kg to Low Earth Orbit (LEO), is an important step in increasing the flexibility and affordability of space access. A bright orange flame indicated the rocket’s ascension and the beginning of its one-way trip into space.

Strategic Objectives

The SSLV Development Project’s main goals have been achieved with the successful deployment of EOS-08 and SR-0. It lays the foundations for future operational missions carried out by the public sector company NewSpace India Ltd. as well as Indian business. This accomplishment not only shows how good ISRO is becoming at satellite technology, but it also shows how dedicated the nation is to developing its space exploration capabilities.

The launch of today represents proof of ISRO’s creativity and strategic direction. ISRO is positioned to take a leading role in the global space sector, advancing scientific research and commercial potential, by improving its technology for small satellite launches.
