When a postal carrier in the Seattle region started honoring workers in 1997, it became known as National Postal Worker Day. Ever since, July 1st has been set aside annually as a day to honor and show thanks to postal workers. Every day, around 490,000 postal workers in the US travel between 4 and 8 miles on average to deliver mail and deliveries. Regardless of the weather or other factors, they continue to guarantee effective mail delivery.
