Based on three primary domains—continuous internal and international conflict, militarization, and social safety and security—the GPI evaluates 163 nations and territories. 1. Iceland
For the seventeenth year in a row, Iceland continues to be the most peaceful nation. 2. DENMARK
Denmark has moved up two spots to take second place. Its high position is a result of its low economic cost of violence, which is barely 4% of GDP, and its complete independence in military affairs.
  3. Ireland
Thanks to its neutral military stance and low economic cost of violence, Ireland is ranked third. Its peaceful position is further supported by a strong education system and strong social unity.
  4. New Zealand
New Zealand is ranked fourth in the world and is the most peaceful country in the Asia-Pacific area. Although there have been improvements in the impact of terrorism, violent protests, and incarceration rates, the economic cost of violence is still comparatively high.
  5. Austria

  6. Singapore
Singapore moves up three spots to take sixth place. Despite significant military spending, it is the second most peaceful nation in the Asia-Pacific area, excelling in areas of safety, security, and continuous conflict.
  7. Portugal, ranked as the fifth-most peaceful nation in Europe, continues to rank in the top ten. Its calm position can be attributed, in part, to its strong community bonds and excellent educational system.
  8. Slovenia, ranked eighth, is the only nation from Central Europe to make the top ten. It focuses heavily on social cohesion and does well in the militarized domain.
  9. Japan
Japan rises to ninth place. Despite having significant military spending because of tensions in the region, it ranks third in the Asia-Pacific area and second in terms of safety and security.
