Ajit Doval Reappointed NSA, PK Mishra to Stay Principal Secretary

Reappointed to his position as Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, PK Mishra, and National Security Advisor (NSA), Ajit Doval, effective June 10. Until the conclusion of the Prime Minister’s tenure or until additional directives, whichever comes first, both officials will remain in their current roles. Furthermore, during their tenure, they will be designated as cabinet ministers in the hierarchy.

Important Roles and Appointments :

  • Ajit Doval: NSA reappointed. Doval, a trustworthy advisor to the prime minister, has held this important position since 2014. He was the first police officer to be awarded the Kirti Chakra, India’s second-highest peacetime gallantry honor, and was a former director of the Intelligence Bureau.
  • PK Mishra: Remains the Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary. Mishra has held this role since 2019. He is an IAS officer from the 1972 batch, with Gujarat cadre. From the University of Sussex in England, he received his PhD in Economics/Development Studies.

Additionally, the reappointment of the following has been approved by the Cabinet’s Appointments Committee.

  • Amit Khare: Advisor to the Prime Minister, holding the position of Secretary in the Indian Government.
  • Tarun Kapoor is the Prime Minister’s advisor and holds the position of Secretary in the Indian Government.

Both appointments take effect on June 10 and are for a period of two years.
