The International Hockey Federation (FIH) announced on June 11, Tuesday, that India has been chosen to host the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup in 2025. With 24 teams attending for the first time, this event will be historic and will highlight India’s important position in world hockey.

India’s Legacy in the Junior World Cup

Having hosted the Junior Men’s World Cup twice before, in 2016 and 2021, India has a strong history in the competition. Notably, at the Lucknow tournament in 2016, India won victorious. Germany emerged victorious in the most recent Men’s Junior World Cup, which took place in Malaysia in 2023.

FIH Statement

In a statement, the FIH confirmed that India will host the 2025 edition and highlighted the tournament’s first-ever expansion to 24 teams. “The International Hockey Federation’s (FIH) Executive Board has awarded India the organization of the next FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup,” the announcement stated. The competition has been scheduled for December 2025. Up to 24 teams will compete in the FIH Hockey Junior World Cup for the first time ever.”
